Foundation and Inception
Our founding principle, is that every player deserves the same amount of attention from our staff, regardless of their age or ability level.
Picture this: back in 2007, Five Star Tennis kicked off as a summer camp buzzing with energy, welcoming junior players of all stripes. At the core of our foundation was the belief that every player, regardless of age or ability, deserves equal attention and opportunity to thrive. What started as a cozy gathering of 35 players soon ballooned to over 200 within five years. By 2014, we were breaking ground on Illinois’ first indoor tennis club in two decades!
Growth and Expansion
The demand? Unbelievable! Within a year, we had doubled our courts, hitting 11 by 2015.
The Five Star Tennis Center opened its doors on January 2, 2014 as a five court indoor facility with approximately 250 junior players. Driven by overwhelming demand, we expanded to 11 courts in our second year of operation, completing the expansion project in November of 2015 which also included expanded viewing on our second and third floors. Today, our membership exceeds 1,000, with enrollment in classes surpassing 1,000 players. We pioneered initiatives such as the Buddy Up For Life tennis program in 2016 and established the Serve It Up Foundation in 2017.

Since our inception in 2014, Five Star Tennis has nurtured a vibrant and inclusive tennis community. Our Tuesday night drills have transformed into cherished social gatherings, featuring themed parties and enduring friendships among members. Over the years, we’ve celebrated life milestones with our pros and members alike—many have gotten married, started families, and expanded our Five Star Family. We’ve been fortunate to send junior players for US Open demonstrations and empower members through the Buddy Up For Life program. Our commitment to community remains unyielding.

Reflecting on our journey, we embrace a philosophy of continuous improvement. While not perfect, we strive daily to enhance our programming, elevate our pro staff’s expertise, and enrich the member experience. Excitingly, our future includes expanding once more, adding standalone indoor pickleball and outdoor courts, alongside a clubhouse. We are poised for a vibrant future at Five Star Tennis Center, brimming with anticipation and possibility.

Player Development
As a USTA-recognized facility, our programs adhere to the USTA and PTR guidelines, ensuring that players receive top-notch, skill-tailored training for proper development and growth in their tennis journey. We have a well-defined pathway for junior players from our beginner Red Ball classes through our High-Performance program. For adult players, we offer the highly popular ‘Tennis University’ program to get you learning to rally and play in no time, so that you can begin to join our robust adult programming.
